Join the Barton Rogers Big Band for an evening of big-band music, swing dancing and dinner with the “Return to the ’40s Dinner and Swing Dance,” beginning at 5 p.m. Nov. 10, at the historic Fort Harrison State Park Inn in Indianapolis.
The event is co-hosted by Fort Harrison State Park, Fort Harrison State Park Inn, the Indianapolis Symphonic Band and the Museum of 20th Century Warfare.
The dinner-dance will be in the main lodge of the inn. Doors open at 5 p.m., with a cash bar available before the meal. A four-course meal will be served from 6 to 8 p.m., with the band performing from 8 to 10. Patrons are encouraged to dress in World War II-era men’s and women’s fashion or semi-formal.
The cost is $30 a person or $50 a couple. Reservations are strongly recommended, but tickets may be purchased at the door.
The Fort Harrison State Park Inn was originally the Fort Harrison Army Infirmary through World War I and World War II, land later turned into the post headquarters until the fort was deactivated in 1995. The Fort Harrison State Park Inn is at 5830 N. Post Road, in Indianapolis.
