Evening of Music and Chocolate scheduled for next weekend

TERRE HAUTE — The ninth annual Evening of Music and Chocolate will begin at 7 p.m. Nov. 3 in Central Christian Church at 4950 E. Wabash Ave. The featured artist will be Patti Plascak Willey of the Academy of Dance.

The event will be a feast for both the ears and eyes. Before and after the first and second sections of the musical program, guests may sample a variety of desserts provided by Wabash Valley businesses. While the emphasis is on chocolate, there will be non-chocolate and sugar-free desserts as well.

The Academy of Dance, which was started in April 2000, is well known locally and admired for its talent and use of music to enhance the performance. Part of this year’s program will include the Central Christian Church choir under the direction of Karen Sagraves.

Willey is originally from Terre Haute and received her bachelor’s degree in dance from Stevens College in Missouri. Her career began in Pittsburgh with a modern dance company. She later moved to New York City, dancing with a number of successful and renowned companies. She has taught master classes and workshops in a number of important colleges and universities around the country. Since returning to Terre Haute, she has choreographed for StageWorkshops, Children’s Theatre of Terre Haute, South Vigo High School, Impact Productions, Terre Haute Youth Orchestra, Terre Haute Symphony Orchestra, ISU Contemporary Music Festival, Symphonietta Pops Orchestra, WTIU “The Friday Zone” Christmas Special, and for the Rose Drama Club at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology.

The advance ticket admission of $15 includes one full-size dessert and drink. Ticket will be available at the door for $18. Advanced tickets may be purchased by contacting any choir member, the church office at 812-877-9959 or by calling 812-234-3690.
