News Release
TERRE HAUTE —
Fueled by the album “Ripe Fruit,” the psychedelic, Chicago-based rock band Smoker is scheduled to visit The Verve Friday night.
The group — headed by Lancaster, Pa., native Stephen Paul Smoker — is set for a 10 p.m. show, following opening act Polar Island of Terre Haute.
Cover charge at the 21-and-over nightspot is $5. The Verve is at 677 Wabash Ave.
Smoker honed his craft as a touring musician and hired gun for bands like MewithoutYou and the Mint. After releasing the album “Violent Sun/Violent Fun,” Stephen joined forces with musicians Michael Kostal (guitar), Bethany Smoker (keys/vocals), Evan Depue (bass), Jaime Dull (drums), Gerald Bailey (trumpet). “Ripe Fruit” is the first collaboration involving the full band.
