TERRE HAUTE — Paul Bro and Martha Krasnican will perform as part of Indiana State University’s Faculty Artist Series at 7:30 p.m. today in Recital Hall of the Landini Center for Performing and Fine Arts.

The recital is free and will feature works by Augusta Read Thomas, Fernande Decruck, Marc Mellits, Christopher Theofanidis and Mark Engebretson. Bro will be accompanied by Kelley Rogers (clarinet), Indiana State faculty member, and Scotty Stepp, DePauw University/University of Indianapolis faculty member and 1996 Indiana State alumnus.

Bro has performed throughout the United States and Canada, as well as in Austria, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Russia, Spain, Taiwan and Thailand. He is a member of the Chicago Saxophone Quartet, the Bro-Street Duo, the Bro-Fowler Duo and the Philharmonia à Vent. Bro is a co-founder with William Street and Jean-Marie Londeix of the saxophone research website SaxAmE.org (The Saxophone in America and Europe).

Krasnican is the director of the accompanying program at Indiana State. As a soloist, she has performed Vincent Persichetti’s piano concerto with the Indiana State University Symphony Orchestra. She has also performed as a soloist with the Terre Haute Symphony Orchestra, including premieres of two piano concertos written for her by Daniel Powers. Krasnican was featured on the CD “Spring and Fall,” a compilation of Powers’ chamber works and songs. She frequently performs with the piano/percussion ensemble Cramped Spaces.
