PALESTINE, IL —
The Palestine Art Center is exhibiting the work of Linda Sikorski of Robinson, Ill., during the month of November.
The free exhibit will be open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday in the Main Gallery of the Palestine Art Center at 110 S. Main St.
Sikorski, born near Chicago, received a bachelor’s degree in fine arts in oils at Southern Illinois University at Carbondale and graduated in 1975.
After an eye-opening trip into the gallery circuit, she moved into drafting (architectural, civil and industrial) and graduated in 1994. She returned to art in 2003.
“I do still work in other media but this go-around I chose watercolor as a major focus,” Sikorski said. “I have taken workshops from nationally known artists like Rotindra Das, Arleta Pech, Jody Henderer Burns, Cindy Agan and David Dooley as well as locally accomplished artists like Larry Miller, Dixie Petticrew, Paul Spangler and Marilyn Kintner.”
Sikorski has won awards in local shows and accomplished juried entry into regional shows in two states.
Her work combines her experience in oils, the precision and detail from drafting, intense color and tonal contrast with the new things she says she learns daily.
Sikorski has lived in Robinson for several years, where she works with her husband, Lance, in his chiropractic clinic.
