United Methodist Women to host quilt show, auction

BRAZIL, Ind. — The Union United Methodist Women will be hosting their second annual quilt show from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday at the church, CR 600 North, Brazil.

This year’s show will feature a quilt made by the men at the PLUS unit at the Wabash Valley Correctional Institute. The quilt is a rose and mauve double wedding ring pattern. Sealed bids for the quilt will be accepted until 4 p.m. with the quilt awarded to the highest bidder.

Several handmade items will be offered in a silent auction. These include an Intarsia art piece, a child’s rocker, doll clothes for an 18-inch doll, homemade soap, several crocheted and knitted neck scarves and prayer shawls, several quilted table toppers and wall hangings, a handmade basket, an oil painting and baked goods. Bids will be accepted during the show with the item going to the highest bidder at the conclusion of the show.

Machine quilter Dorie Bedwell will be available to offer assistance and guidance to those who have unfinished quilting objects. There will also be someone present to demonstrate and answer questions about hand quilting.

Admission to the show is $1. A baked potato bar will be offered for a free-will donation. Pie and coffee will be available for $1 each.

Proceeds of the show will go to missions.
