Sumar Classic set for Saturday's season finale at Action Track

TERRE HAUTE — The USAC Silver Crown cars return to the Terre Haute Action Track on Saturday as the Sumar Classic 100 represents the finale at the track for its 2010 season.

The race was originally scheduled for July 21, but was postponed due to inclement weather.

Three-time Silver Crown champion Bud Kaeding has a 41-point lead over Levi Jones and seeks his fourth championship in what is the second-to-last Silver Crown race of the 2010 season.

If Kaeding has a 67-point advantage after Saturday's race, he will be the Silver Crown champion again. Jones, however, has won five sprint car races at the Action Track in the last five years alone.

Seven different drivers have won the seven Silver Crown races to date. Jones is being chased for second by Shane Hmiel, Kody Swanson and Jerry Coons Jr.

The Sumar Classic was not held in 2009. Dave Darland won the last edition of the race in 2008.

The Action Track ticket office opens at 3 p.m. Saturday. Hot laps begin at 6 p.m.
