TERRE HAUTE — The Halcyon Contemporary Art Gallery is pleased to present “Questions,” an exhibition of collage and sculpture by Michael R. Tingley. The opening reception is 7 to 9 p.m. March 5.
In his artist’s statement, Tingley says the following about his artworks: “My art is a combination of drawing, painting, photography and sculpture. I bring something new into existence by combining my own creations with found images and objects. I enjoy fitting things together that weren’t originally meant to be together and mixing the pre-conceived notions that accompany images and objects. My engineered assemblages intentionally raise provocative and humorous questions that are, hopefully, entertaining.”
Since 1975, Tingley has exhibited in Cologne, Germany, New York, Philadelphia, Connecticut and throughout the Midwest. He is currently a faculty member at Oakland City University at Rockville Correctional Facility.
The exhibit will be on view at Halcyon Gallery from March 2-26. Halcyon is beside the Swope Art Museum at 25 S. Seventh St. Gallery hours are noon to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday, or by appointment. For more information, call (812) 841-2884 or visit www.artathalcyon.com.
