Event brings together artists, vendors selling unique items

BRAZIL — The Celebration of the Arts & Soul, 4th Annual Fall Show will bring three days of fun ways to support local artists and vendors selling unique handmade items including: candles, jewelry, beaded vases, drawings, photography, puppets, paintings, crocheted goods, all natural make-up, bath salts and tie-dyes and more.

The event is from 6 to 9 p.m. today, from 1 to 8 p.m. Saturday and from 1 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the Old Masonic Temple, 201 N. Walnut St. in Brazil.

Massage therapy, reflexology, Reiki, make-overs and Tarot readings will be available. The philosophy behind the show is to increase community involvement. Not only do the participants help support local charities, they also bring a wealth of information about art, music, massage therapy and more.

An opening night reception is planned today with food prepared by Stella’s Café and a musical performance from Indiana State University’s “Sideshow” that starts at 7 p.m.

“Fall Into A Masterpiece” on Saturday as organizers seek artists, craftsman, and creative individuals to bring materials and to make a new art piece. Sign up for free, beginning at 1 p.m., after which participants can either stay in the Old Masonic Temple or go around town to get inspiration. At 6:30 p.m. all participants will bring their work to the second floor of the Temple to demonstrate their impromptu creativity. Select pieces will be displayed at the Brazil Public Library.

Also on Saturday, “Condiments Upon Request,” theater group from ISU, will be entertaining participants with improvisation.

An SFX demonstration by Marquis Bunch is planned for 2 p.m. Sunday, and open poetry readings will begin at at 3:30 p.m.

The fall show will be collecting items for the Clay County Emergency Food Pantry, which supports between 350 and 400 families a month.

While admission to the event is free, guest are asked to consider a donation at the door. The emergency pantry is in need of: clean blankets, canned milk, canned vegetables, sugar, cereal, peanut butter, jelly, dish soap, laundry soap, shampoo, bath soap, toilet paper and toothpaste. They always need meat: ground beef, hot dogs, bologna and smoked sausage. Needs also include: dishes, clothing, other food items and cleaning supplies.
