The Community Theatre of Terre Haute playgoers will get an added treat during November and December. When they decide to attend a production, they will get the opportunity to view some of the area’s finest artworks created by The Wabash Valley Art Guild members. More than 20 local artists will be displaying their creative talents in a diversity of works.
Although paintings will be the main part of the display, there will also be wood carvings and sculpture, fused glass art, a ceramic Sammy Terry tribute, wood intarsia and a quilt hanging. From the traditional to the abstract, nature and historic photography, beach and pastoral scenes, still life, portraits and more, these works showcase their impressive talents. A special tribute to the late Mary Lane Ozak also is included. She was a guild member for many years. Ozak’s painting of a small group looking out from under their umbrellas is on display.
Participating artists include Edith Acton, Bill Aitken, Deborah Anderson, Peter Bruning, Bob DeFrance, Martha Dowell, Jane Dusanic, JoAnne Fiscus, Arie Fraza, John Fuller, Robert Gibbons, John Hemminghouse, Edward Holloman, Patricia Kelly, Karen LeVan, Margaret McKee, Jim McMullen, Keisha Pearman, John Rodgers, Wayne Shaw, Marsha Stewart, Doyne Weir and Eloise Weymouth.
The Community Theatre of Terre Haute, at 1431 S. 25th St., will have lobby hours for seeing the exhibit during their productions and when the ticket office is open. This display is hanging in both the main lobby and the second room; it will be up through Dec. 29. For hours, call (812) 232-7172.
