Vincennes University will host two cultural events in November, celebrating two vastly different cultures.
Recognizing November as Native American Heritage Month, VU will welcome Native American performers Fast Horse at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Shircliff Theatre. Admission is free.
The Fast Horses are a Minnesota-based Lakota family that has been performing worldwide since 1998. Transcending age, language and culture, the performance focuses on the evolution of Native music and dance as expressed through poetry, humor, magic, audience participation, juggling, storytelling, costumes, fire, song and dance.

The culture and cuisine of Africa will be featured during African Culture Night at 6 p.m. Nov. 20 in Green Activities Center. Tickets include dinner and a performance and cost $7 for adults and $3 for children ages 5 to 12. Tickets may be purchased at the Student Center on the second floor of Beckes Student Union.
The menu will include Moroccan lamb stew with couscous, African futari (squash and yams), Monrovian collards and cabbage, irio from Kenya, Marrakesh vegetable curry, salady voankazo (fruit compote with lichee nuts), and cote d'voire pineapple dessert.
Entertainment will feature a performance by the Umdabu Dance Company. Incorporated in 2000, this Birmingham, Ala.-based dance theater is dedicated to the preservation and presentation of traditional and contemporary South African history and culture; particularly that of the Zulu people.
