Popular conversation series Art Chatter is back: Series starts June 13 with public memorials as topic

TERRE HAUTE — Art Chatter is back. The popular conversation series, hosted by Art Spaces Inc.-Wabash Valley Outdoor Sculpture Collection, has returned with new topics in a new location.

Beginning June 13, Art Chatter will take place at M. Mogger’s Restaurant & Pub every second Wednesday through September, beginning at 5:15 p.m.

The 2012 series will feature presenters discussing topics in public art ranging from memorials to community identity.

People of all ages are invited to come to Mogger’s to chat about art and get to know other people through lively discussion.

Two presenters will kick off each evening with images and ideas to get the conversation started.

On June 13, Marianne Richter, executive director of the Swope Art Museum, and Neil Garrison, chair of the Terre Haute Walk of Fame Committee, will discuss, “Who Gets to Be Remembered Forever in Art?”

Who decides the who, what, when, where of memorials? Is it emotion, sense of history or wanting to convey a certain message that drives us to put them up?

Beverages and food will be available for purchase from the Mogger’s menu.
