Chase away winter blues at Harlan Hall Sock Hop

MARSHALL, Ill. — Join the Harlan Hall Entertainment Committee for a fabulous night of fun and frolic at the Winter Wild Sock Hop on Saturday at Harlan Hall. 

Entertainment will include DJ Dan Crews, who will play favorite hits from the ’50s, ’60s, and ’70s (and maybe some more modern tunes as well). There will be mini dance contests for the jitterbug (swing dance), the twist and disco complete with prizes.

Guests are encouraged to dress in the style of their favorite musical decade. Snacks will be provided, and a cash bar will be available. Doors open at 7:30 p.m. CDT, and the DJ plays from 8 to 11 p.m.

Harlan Hall, at 603 Locust St., is a restored 1872 historic building originally built to house a livery stable on the first floor and an opera house on the second. Harlan Hall is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is a locally significant building associated with the important grass roots trend in American culture and entertainment history during the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
