EIU ‘Festival of the Arts’ seeks artists for Art Fair

CHARLESTON, Ill. — Eastern Illinois University’s annual “Celebration: A Festival of the Arts” is seeking artists and fine arts demonstrators to be part of the Fine Arts Fair planned for April 24 and 25 on the Charleston campus.

For more than 30 years, a variety of art forms have been featured at the two-day outdoor fair. Fifty booth spaces are available and will provide artists the opportunity to sell their original handcrafted works. The booths typically feature but are not limited to ceramics and pottery, glasswork, jewelry, paintings, photography and other original work.

The entry fee is $60. Applications can be obtained by calling the festival planning office at (217) 581-2113 or on the festival’s Web site, www.eiu.edu/celebration.

“Celebration: A Festival of the Arts” has been an annual event on the Charleston campus since 1977, rain or shine. The festival annually features family-oriented arts activities, including live music performances, theater presentations, children activities, demonstrations, food booths and exhibitions. Admission to the festival is free.

Recognized as one of east-central Illinois’ premier fine-arts festivals, “Celebration” is sponsored by the Eastern Illinois University College of Arts and Humanities in conjunction with the City of Charleston, and the Illinois Arts Council.
