River Wools announces design challenge

TERRE HAUTE — As part of its eighth anniversary, River Wools is sponsoring a design challenge.

The kick-off for the event is from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at River Wools at 671 Wabash Ave.

For an entry fee of $20 participants will receive a randomly selected bag of novelty yarns that will be used to create a design incorporating crochet, knitting and/or weaving somewhere in the design.

Other materials such as beads and wood can be used and additional yarns also can be incorporated in the design.

First-prize winner will receive a $100 gift certificate to River Wools; second prize a $50 gift certificate, third prize a $25 gift certificate. The winning entries will be highlighted in the River Wools window display, Facebook page, Ravelry page and other publicity.

Participants must enter by June 9.

Designs are due by Sept. 21. Participants  will be recognized and the top three designs will be honored on First Friday, Oct. 5.
