World-renowned flutist Stillman to perform at ISU

Flutist Mimi Stillman will present a master class and recital from 10 a.m. to noon Thursday in the Recital Hall of Indiana State University’s Center for Performing and Fine Arts. Both events are free.

Stillman is one of the most highly regarded flutists in the concert world today and has performed recitals, chamber music, and with orchestras all over the United States and abroad. She involves all attendees in her presentations and encourages everyone to bring their flutes no matter what their playing level. After each event, her CDs and books will be available for purchase and signing.

Stillman is internationally acclaimed for performances as soloist with The Philadelphia Orchestra and numerous others, and as recitalist and chamber musician at major venues. At age 12, she was the youngest wind player ever admitted to the Curtis Institute of Music, where she received her bachelor’s degree studying with Julius Baker and Jeffrey Khaner. She was the youngest wind player ever to win the Young Concert Artists International Auditions. She is the founder and artistic director of the Dolce Suono Chamber Music Concert Series in Philadelphia.

Stillman’s appearance is sponsored by Yamaha Corporation of America. Visit www.mimistillman.org for more details.
