The president is meeting with Abbas about the peace process, as rockets were launched into Israel today.

2. WHAT WAS KEPT  IN BUDGET BILL

The spending bill likely to be passed by the House today cuts $85 billion, but saves the job of federal meat inspectors.

3. CYPRUS TURNS TO ‘PLAN B’

Cyprus is considering Russian assistance, as the European Central Bank warned it would only fund the country’s banks until Monday.

4. PEDIATRICIANS ENDORSE GAY MARRIAGE

The American Academy of Pediatrics says a stable relationship between parents regardless of sexual orientation contributes to a child’s health and well-being.

5. WHO WERE THE MARINES WHO DIED IN NEVADA EXPLOSION

They ranged in age from 19 to 26. Two were engaged and one wanted to become a professional chef.

6. SOUTH KOREA CYBERATTACK TRACED TO CHINA

But speculation still centers on North Korea as the source of hacks of banks and media companies.

7. A HOST OF POSSIBLE SUSPECTS IN COLORADO CORRECTIONS CHIEF KILLING

Tom Clements oversaw inmates in 20 prisons and a week ago denied a Saudi national’s request for a transfer.

8. HEEERE’S ... JIMMY?

Speculation is swirling that NBC is preparing to replace “Tonight” host Jay Leno with Jimmy Fallon and move the show from California to New York.
