ANNIVERSARIES: Aug. 14, 2011

Mr. and Mrs. Gene Shotts

Mr. and Mrs. Gene Shotts of Marshall, Ill., will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with an open house from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Aug. 27, 2011, in the Clarksville Baptist Church.

The Shotts were married Aug. 26, 1961, in the home of the bride’s parent at Marshall.

It is requested that gifts be omitted, but cards are welcome and may be sent to 15567 N. 1400th St., Marshall, IL 62441.

Mrs. Shotts, the former Carolyn Martin, is a homemaker. Shotts is retired from Howell Paving.

Hosts will be the couple’s three children, Debbie Garling and husband Mike, Greg Shotts and wife Karen, and Dee Dee Rhoads and husband Mike.

They also have nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Mr. and Mrs. Bill Thompson

Mr. and Mrs. Bill Thompson of Terre Haute will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary with an open house and card shower from 1 to 4 p.m. Aug. 21, 2011, in their home.

Friends and relatives are invited. Cards may be mailed to 914 Helen Ave., Terre Haute, IN 47802.

The Thompsons were married Aug. 17, 1951, in the Church of Christ. Mrs. Thompson, the former Donna Caton, is retired from Fannie May. Thompson is retired from the Federal Penitentiary in Terre Haute.

The couple have five children, Brenda Pair of Terre Haute, Deborah Miranda of Farmersburg, Kenneth Thompson of Center Point, Linda Thompson of Terre Haute, and the late Kevin Thompson. They also have 13 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
