TERRE HAUTE — ANNIVERSARIES

Mr. and Mrs. John Conway

Mr. and Mrs. John Conway will celebrate their 45th wedding anniversary from 1 to 3 p.m. on Sunday, March 31, 2012, in Spring Creek Church at Terre Haute.

Friends and relatives are invited. It is requested that gifts be omitted but cards are welcome and may be sent to 1421 Haythorne Ave., Terre Haute, IN 47805.

The Conways were married March 25, 1967, in the Church of God at Fontanet by David Wise.

Mrs. Conway, the former Connie Wright, was a teaching assistant at Terre Town Elementary School. Conway is retired after 30 years from Bemis Co Inc. 

The couple have two sons, Shane Conway and wife Heather of Terre Haute, and Michael Conway and wife Nicole of Bloomington. They also have four grandchildren.

Mr. and Mrs. Walter Sommers

Mr. and Mrs. Walter Sommers of Terre Haute will celebrate their 65th wedding anniversary on March 30, 2012.

The couple were married in New York City in 1947 at Temple Anshecheset.

During World War II Walter served as an artilleryman and forward observer with the 77th infantry division in the Pacific theatre of war. Shortly after their marriage, Louise, the former Louise Levite, graduated from Hunter College with a degree in botany. In 1948, the family moved to Terre Haute where Walter accepted an executive buying position at the Meis Department Store.

Walter worked at Meis for 40 years in a range of executive positions, including the women’s coat, suit and fur buyer. Since retiring in 1988, Walter has volunteered with the American Red Cross, Hospice of the Wabash Valley, the ESL Department of the Vigo County Public Library and the CANDLES Holocaust Museum. Louise has been an active contributor in Terre Haute through her leadership of Clothes Closet, an organization that donates clothes to school children, and her involvement with the Sisterhood of the United Hebrew Congregation.

The couple have two children, Ronald Sommers and wife Charles Mary of Houston, and Nancy Sommers and companion Joshua of Boston.

They also have four grandchildren, Demian and wife Liz, Devin, Rachel and Alexandra; and two great-grandchildren, Asher and Isabelle.

ENGAGEMENTS

Roan-Burdick

Kailee Lynn Roan and Kyle Matthew Burdick of Terre Haute will be united in marriage on April 28, 2012, in St. Benedict Catholic Church.

The bride-elect is the daughter of Kim and John Roan, a 2006 graduate of Terre Haute North Vigo High School and a 2010 graduate of Indiana State University with a degree in nursing. She is a registered nurse at Union Hospital.

Burdick is the son of Joe and Leslie Burdick, a 2003 graduate of Terre Haute North and a 2008 graduate of ISU with a degree in secondary education. He is a teacher with the Vigo County School Corp.

Bailey-Mager

Jessica Bailey and Josh Mager will be united in marriage at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 31, 2012, in Friendly Grove Church at Rosedale.  

A dinner reception will follow in the 1876 Barn at Bridgeton. Friends and relatives are invited.

The bride-elect is the daughter of Cheryl Chandler and William Bailey of Terre Haute. She is a graduate of Terre Haute North Vigo High school and Ivy Tech Community College. She is employed by Thompson Thift in Terre Haute.

Mager is the son of Greg and Jamie Mager of Rosedale. He is a graduate of Riverton Parke Jr.-Sr. High School and Indiana State University. He is employed by UPS in Terre Haute.
