Mr. and Mrs. Harry Frank Van Allen

Mr. and Mrs. Harry Frank Van Allen will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary during an open house from 2 to 4 p.m. March 4, 2012, in United Methodist Temple at Terre Haute.

The Van Allens were married Feb. 25, 1962, in Kingsley United Methodist Church near Graysville by the Rev. Carl Gilbreath. Mrs. Van Allen, the former Fern Ellen Foutz, worked as a registered nurse at Union Hospital and for Dr. Donn Gossom.

Van Allen served two years in the Marine Corps and worked 40 years at the Tribune-Star. He later worked at the Vincennes Sun-Commercial newspaper and was an instructor in the press room at Vincennes University.

The couple celebrated last November with a family trip to the Opryland Hotel Christmas celebration in Nashville, Tenn.

The couple have three children, Margaret Van Allen Battles and husband Steve of Shelbyville, the Rev. Frank Van Allen and wife Nancy (Thomas) of Bloomington, and Martha Van Allen Adams and husband Jamie of Fairbanks. They also have seven grandchildren. 

Mr. and Mrs. Harold Terry

Mr. and Mrs. Harold Terry will observe their 50th wedding anniversary on March 3, 2012.

The couple were married on March 3, 1962, in Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Clinton.

Mrs. Terry, the former Janet VanDeVoorde, is retired from the Vigo County School Corp. Terry is retired from the Milwaukee/Soo Line Railroad.

The couple have two daughters, Gina Wall and husband Greg, and Carla Kennedy and husband Jeff. They also have five grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.

Mr. and Mrs. Roger Thompson

Mr. and Mrs. Roger Thompson of Hymera will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with an open house from 3 to 6 p.m. Saturday, March 3, 2012, in the Park Inn building at Linton City Park.

Cards are welcome and may be sent to P.O. Box 123, Hymera, IN 47855.

The Thompsons were married March 3, 1962. Mrs. Thompson, the former Judy Becthel, is a homemaker. Thompson is retired from Peabody Coal Co.

The couple have two daughters, Debbie Fry and husband Dan, and Char Lene Mowery and husband Bob, all of Jasonville. They also have four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
