Mr. and Mrs. Sam Speros

Mr. and Mrs. Sam Speros of Marshall, Ill. celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary during a private family dinner on Saturday, June 13, 2009.

The couple were married on June 13, 1959, by the Rev. Ennix during a private ceremony in Attica, Ind.

The couple have four children Teri Marquardt and husband Rod of Simpsonville, S.C., Travis Speros and wife Teresa of Marshall, Tracy Harbour and husband Kyle of Spring Hill, Kan., and Stacey Speros of Marshall. They also have two grandchildren.

Mrs. Speros, the former Betty DeMumbrum, is retired from the Marshall Community School System where she served as a cafeteria worker for 24 years.

Speros is retired from the Marshall Martins IGA where he served as the meat department manager for 40 years.



Mr. and Mrs. Rev. Bill Dawson

Rev. and Mrs. Bill Dawson are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary today, June 14, 2009.

Friends and relatives are invited to a reception at 3 p.m. today, in Rio Grande Baptist Church.

It is requested that gifts be omitted, but your best memories and cards to share with the couple are welcome.

The Dawsons were married on June 14, 1959, at First Assembly of God Church, by the Rev. William D. Saunders.

The couple have two daughters, Jolee Huber and husband Scott of Columbus, Ohio, and Janeen Trueblood of Terre Haute. They also have six grandchildren.

Mrs. Dawson, the former Peggy Joanell Beckman, retired from teaching in Vigo County last year, but still enjoys substitute teaching.

Rev. Bill Dawson is the pastor of Marshall Baptist Church.

The couple are planning a trip to Hawaii later this year.



Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Pastorius Sr.

Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Pastorius Sr. of Terre Haute observed their 50th wedding anniversary on Saturday, June 6, 2009.

The couple celebrated with a party hosted by their children and grandchildren at Eagles Club Room.

The couple were married on June 6, 1959, in Burnett Baptist Church.

Mrs. Pastorius, the former Vivian Haase, is a homemaker.

Pastorius is retired from Wabash Fiber Box.

The couple have three children, Karen McLin and husband Rod of Terre Haute, Debbie Eble of Terre Haute and Jerry Pastorius Jr. and wife Dena of Rosedale.

They also have seven grandchildren.



Mr. and Mrs. William R. Smith

Mr. and Mrs. William R. Smith of Terre Haute will observe their 60th wedding anniversary on Saturday, June 20, 2009.

An open house hosted by their children and grandchildren is planned for 2 to 5 p.m. at the Oregon Baptist Family Life Center.

It is requested that gifts be omitted but cards are welcome.

The Smiths were married June 25, 1949, in Riley, Ind. by the Rev. O.J. Ramey.

Mrs. Smith, the former Wanda Nees, is a retired beautician.

Smith retired from Indiana State Police.

The couple have two sons, Bart Smith, and Brad Smith and wife Karan, all of Terre Haute. They also have five grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; three great-grandchildren and three stepgreat-grandchildren.



Mr. and Mrs. Allen Smittkamp

Mr. and Mrs. C. Allen Smittkamp of Terre Haute, formerly of Paris, Ill. will celebrate their 70th wedding anniversary on Wednesday, June 17, 2009.

The Smittkamps were married June 17, 1939, by the Rev. Charles Jackson, minister of First Christian Church, Paris, Ill.

Mrs. Smittkamp, the former Reta Weber, retired as the secretary of the First Christian Church in Paris, on June 30, 1986.

Smittkamp is a retiree of the U.S. Postal Service since Jan. 1, 1973.

The couple have four children, Robert and his wife Jeanette of Bloomington, Ill., Betty Lee of Terre Haute, James and his wife Elizabeth of Peoria, Ill., Jerry and his wife Lynda of Thornton, Colo.

They also have seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.



Mr. and Mrs. C. Lloyd Kruzan

Mr. and Mrs. C. Lloyd Kruzan will observe their 50th wedding anniversary on Saturday, June 20, 2009.

The Kruzans were married June 20, 1959, at Trinity Lutheran Church by Pastor Charles Ostheim.

Mrs. Kruzan, the former Carol Ann Hale, is retired from Kmart Corp.

Kruzan is a self-employed painter.

The couple have three daughters, LeAnn Capps and husband Marty, Kimberlee Ross and husband Rudy, and Angela Gladden and husband Scott, all of Terre Haute, and a son, Rich Kruzan and wife Elena of San Leandro, Calif.

They also have six grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.

The couple will celebrate with an intimate family dinner at Magdy's hosted by their children.



Mr. and Mrs. Charles B. Shutt

Mr. and Mrs. Charles B. Shutt recently observed their 50th wedding anniversary with a dinner party hosted by their daughters at the Saratoga Restaurant.

The Shutts were married on June 14, 1959, at the First Presbyterian Church of Danville, Ill.

Mrs. Shutt, the former Jean Draegert, has worked in Terre Haute, as an English and drama teacher at North Vigo High School and director of publicity for ISU Summer Theatre.

Shutt is a retired district manager of the Social Security Administration.

The couple have three daughters, Allison Chemerys and husband Greg, Jill Shutt, and Shelly Shearer and husband David. They also have six grandchildren.



Mr. and Mrs. Jim Mann

Mr. and Mrs. Jim Mann of West Terre Haute will celebrate their 45th wedding anniversary with a family dinner at 1 p.m. today at the Beef House.

The Manns were married on June 13, 1964, in the Bethany United Church of Christ by the Rev. Alvin Rickleffs.

Mrs. Mann is the former Johnine Sutherland.

Mann is retired from West Vigo High School.

The couple’s children are Jim Mann II and wife Eileen, John Mann and wife Cherri, and Jaime Burson and husband Chris.

They also have five grandchildren.



Mr. and Mrs. Don McDaniel

Mr. and Mrs. Don McDaniel will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on June 20, 2009, with an open house from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at 1845 N. 61/2 St. in Terre Haute.

Friends and relatives are invited.

It is requested that gifts be omitted but cards are welcome.

The McDaniels were married on June 29, 1959, in the Plymouth Congregational Church.

Mrs. McDaniel is the former Janet K. Guptill.

The couple have four sons, Don, Todd, Tim and Brandon McDaniel.



Mr. and Mrs. James E. Dodson Sr.

Mr. and Mrs. James E. Dodson Sr. of Terre Haute celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary on Saturday, June 6 2009.

The Dodsons were married on June 6, 1944, in Maple Avenue Christian Church.

Mrs. Dodson is the former Emma Lou Bachelor.

The couple have two children, Teri Evans and husband Jim of Terre Haute and James Dodson Jr. and wife Deborah of Vincennes.

They also have four grandchildren.

A celebration with family members and relatives will take place at Bradley Dodson’s home in Las Vegas in August.



Mr. and Mrs. Mark Bennett

Mr. and Mrs. Mark Bennett will celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary on Tuesday, June 16, 2009.

The Bennetts were married on June 16, 1984, in Maryland Community Church in Terre Haute by Gary Greven.

Mrs. Bennett, the former Teri Matherly, teaches seventh grade English at Honey Creek Middle School.

Bennett is an editorialist and columnist for the Tribune-Star.

The couple have three children, Graham Bennett of West Lafayette, and Paul Bennett and Mari Bennett, both of Terre Haute.



Mr. and Mrs. Grover Garrett

Mr. and Mrs. Grover Garrett of Estill Springs, Tenn., and formerly of Terre Haute, Ind., will observe their 50th wedding anniversary on Tuesday, June 23, 2009.

A celebration is planned for 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, at Southside Church of Christ in Terre Haute.

Friends and relatives are invited.

The Grovers were married June 23, 1959, at Northside Church of Christ in Terre Haute.

Mrs. Grover is the former Carol Little.

The couple have five children, Patricia Garrett, Lynn Bridges, Debbie Berry, Grover Garrett and Martha Garrett. They also have six grandchildren.



Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Crabb

Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Crabb of Brazil will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary on Friday, June 19, 2009.

The Crabbs were married on June 19, 1949, by the Rev. Jack Masters in the First United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Crabb, the former Phyllis Harrison, was employed by the Clay Community School Corporation.

Crabb is retired from the Clay Community School Corporation after 39 years as an administrator, and then served 12 years as mayor of Brazil.

The couple have three children, Chuck Crabb and wife Madeline of Bloomington, Ind., Cindy Hankey and husband Fred of Severna Park, Md., and Casey Crabb and wife Chris of Monticello, Ind.

They also have four grandsons and two great-grandsons.



Mr. and Mrs. Scott Athey

Mr. and Mrs. Scott Athey of Terre Haute will celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary on Tuesday, June 16, 2009.

The couple were married June 16, 1984, in Marshall, Ill.

Mrs. Athey is the former Lora Snyder.

The couple have two children, Zach and Courtney Athey.
