TERRE HAUTE — Mr. and Mrs. Ron Kiger

Ron and Kathy Kiger will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with an open house on Sunday, July 22, 2012, from 1 to 3 p.m., in the community room at Anthony Square, 500 College Ave., Terre Haute.

The event will be hosted by the couple’s children, Veronica (Tim) Shumaker of Marshall, Ill. and Brian (Amy) Kiger of Indianapolis.

Family and friends are invited to the open house. Cards are welcome and may be sent to 905 Cherry St., Marshall, IL 62441.

Ron and Kathy were married July 19, 1962, by B.O. Ray at Marshall, Ill. Maxine and Jack Wittenmeyer served as matron of honor and best man.

Ron served 24 years in the military and retired from GTE in 1993, and is currently employed part-time with 7th and 70 Liquor & World Wines at Terre Haute.  

Mrs. Kiger, the former Katherine West, worked at GTE, TRW and retired from AAA Terre Haute in 2009, and is currently employed part-time at Marshall Public Library.

The couple has seven grandchildren, Stephanie (Don) Dicus of Terre Haute, Ryan and Trice Shumaker of Marshall, Gavin, Kennedy, Veronica and Grant Kiger of Indianapolis and two great-grandchildren, Haylee and Alyssa Dicus of Terre Haute.

A trip to the Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta is planned for later this year.



Mr. and Mrs. Merv Hendricks

Vigo County residents Cathy and Merv Hendricks will observe their 40th wedding anniversary today.

Cathy Hendricks is the former Cathy Goodall. Both Cathy and Merv are natives of Bloomington. They have lived in Seelyville since 1982.

The Hendrickses were married July 15, 1972, in Beck Chapel on the campus of Indiana University in Bloomington. The bride’s uncle, the late Keith Chitwood, performed the ceremony.

The couple has two children: Andrew Hendricks of Mooresville and Emily Hendricks Turnier of Indianapolis. The Hendrickses also have one grandson and two granddaughters.

Cathy works as a copy writer/editor at MillerWhite Marketing. Merv is a copy editor/writer at the Tribune-Star.

The family plans a celebration for the couple next weekend.
